Dr. Ravasia has been involved in women’s health care for over 17 years.
She set up and founded Women’s Health Connection in 2005 in Spokane, WA as a center for integrative care for women, including both primary care and specialty gynecologic and urologic care for women. Prior to that, she worked for a number of years in North Dakota as a general Ob/Gyn with an interest in urogynecology.
Dr. Ravasia is devoted to providing the highest quality care to women of all ages, races, and walks of life with a compassionate and state of the art holistic approach that incorporates both traditional medicine and surgery, as well as functional and lifestyle medicine, in a calm, safe and comforting environment. As a mother, wife, sister and daughter, Dr. Ravasia understands the care of women from many aspects and the various joys and challenges of these roles.
Dr. Ravasia stays up to date with the latest developments in women’s health care and minimally invasive procedures in gynecology and urogynecology. She is an advanced laparoscopic and pelvic reconstructive surgeon, but always prefers to start treatments conservatively.
She prefers a holistic and natural approach, integrated with traditional medicine, to a number of primary health problems women commonly experience, including metabolic problems, menopausal problems, PMS related problems, and many others. She has a strong interest in obesity management, and feels that obesity underlies many of the hormonal and medical imbalances and chronic illnesses that women are experiencing in the last decade.
Dr. Ravasia completed her medical training, with distinction, at the University of Saskatchewan in 1994, including a year during which she volunteered in Cameroon providing health care to women in rural areas there through the Canadian International Development Agency and was awarded the Lindsay Medal in Ob/Gyn. She then completed her residency at the University of Calgary, Foothills Hospital in 2000, with a special interest in urology and urogynecology, during which time her first two of her four children were born.
Dr. Ravasia is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology in both Canada (Royal College) and the USA (American Board of Ob/Gyn diplomat). She is a member of the American College of Ob/Gyn, The American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy, the American Urogynecology Society, the Society of Ob/Gyn of Canada, the American Medical Association, the National Lipid Association, the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, and the National American Menopause Society. She is currently in process of certifying with the Institute of Functional Medicine.
Dr. Ravasia was Associate Clinical Professor in Ob/Gyn at the University of North Dakota before moving to Spokane to set up her private practice. She has published a number of scientific papers in peer reviewed Ob/Gyn literature, and has written many articles for women in local magazines in the Spokane area.
When not working, Dr. Ravasia enjoys skiing, hiking and hanging out with her husband and four kids.
